Future Life Options Program (FL0P) – Adenta West and Ayi Mensa Communities-Ga-East District.
In January 2006,the first phase of the FLOP started in Adenta West and Ayi Mensa Communities-Ga-East District of the Greater Accra Region of the republic of Ghana working through out the year to empower 124 out-of-school young girls.

The specific objectives were:
• To improve their own decision-making skills
• To improve their communication skills through interactive presentations.
• To promote the use of abstinence as an acceptable option for young
women people
• To educate them regarding proper condom use for those young women who have opted for sexual relationships
• To increase compassion for HIV/AIDS infected people
• To significantly impact on their population by reducing the spread of STDs including HIV and by preventing unwanted teenage pregnancy.
Impact of FLOP on young women’s lives
To the question “The thing I like the most about this program is….” Young women responded:
1. How we get to talk freely about what we know about drugs and not be judged
2. I like to talk about ways that can help young women through life
? That they tell us how to say No
? That we can solve problems
3. We learned how to deal
4. With every day stuff If I ever get a friend who got caught for the same thing as I have, I would in fact recommend the FLOP Program to them so they get the same education and guidelines as I have. The FLOP! Program has helped open my eyes, and I only hope that anyone sent to take it will feel the same way.”
5. The FLOP Program has really expanded my thoughts and beliefs toward drugs and alcohol. Before entering the program I didn’t think about the consequences that my actions would have on others and myself. I was putting myself into danger and others as well.
